Fallon Sherrock was left emotional and lost for words as The Queen of the Palace made yet more history on the big stage in front of millions watching on at home,
sealing Beat Luke Littler, who saw 20 players go up against the current King of Darts.
But it was the Queen who toppled the King over the one leg with a 15-darter, as Littler, who survived a dart earlier in the night from Pearse Mackle on the bull, was beaten towards the latter end of the event. Jasper Scarrott and Mitchell Lawrie were among those still left who then didn't take to the stage.
But Sherrock, who many people criticised her inclusion due to her already being a big name, showed why she is always one to watch on the big stage. She now goes home £501,000 richer and perhaps is the reward for her not receiving the fanfare she could've got post her Ally Pally history-making moment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For Littler, he showed he is vulnerable over that one-leg distance, but for the most part it was smooth sailing till the biggest name yet came to the party. "It's insane. Honestly, I can't put into words how much this means, especially having Rory here. He's the first time he's ever been to anything, and he's seen me win."
Fallon Sherrock does it again!
Pictures aired from there of her son Rory on stage as Sherrock took in winning the trophy on stage and being £501,000 richer, and she was gobsmacked. "It was lovely. Sorry, I've really lost the words right now. But yeah, it was a great moment, and I'll memorise this forever."
Gary Lineker mused about her having previous experience doing this, and she agreed that she thrives the most with everything on the line. "I'm like, give me an opportunity, and I'm going to take it every time. I don't know what it is, but yeah, I'm really proud of myself right now."
"You do love a pound note, don't you?"
PDC President Barry Hearn was the one who gave out the biggest cheque in history to Littler ironically when the prize money rose to £1 million under his watch as the leading pariah of the sport became so popular. "Unbelievable. You deserve every penny. Fourteen darts. It was very tough when you got the darts to beat someone on 14. He's got to go out in a 12-darter, really, to have any chance. And as usual, you do love a pound note, don't you?"
Sherrock responded, chiming in that she does in fact rise when it matters most. "I rise to the occasion. Thank you."
