Ben Robb is set for a fifth World Darts Championship challenge in his career this month. The 36-year-old New Zealander will take on Connor Scutt in the first round. If he wins, a duel with ninth seed Damon Heta awaits in the second round.
In all four of his prevous trips to the Ally Pally, the Kiwi has lost in the first round. Understandably, Robb wants to break that negative streak this year. “I feel in control, I feel calm, excited and all the good things that come with it,” says Robb to the New Zealand Herald. “I should know what to expect. Everything that I think needs to be right is right, it’s just going to be up to me to see what I can do.

“For anybody who has been up there, they know it’s difficult, especially for us Kiwis being so far from home, which is the hardest challenge,” Robb continues, looking to explain his poor record in North London. “You are by yourself, that’s the most difficult part, but being up there is a privilege and opportunity.”
As mentioned, Robb will take on Connor Scutt in his first match. The Englishman, like Robb, currently does not have a PDC Tour Card, but is in excellent form this year including two tournament victories on the Challenge Tour and a quarterfinal at the Players Championship Finals. Scutt, incidentally, has already secured a Tour Card for the next two years by winning the Challenge Tour.
"Even though he’s in great form, I know what to expect from him. He’s a no-nonsense guy. He backs himself and believes he can win," Robb previews. “I feel confident, the match up is a good one and the rest of the world will look at him as the clear favourite, which is fair enough, but I believe I’m just as capable."
