Gerwyn Price is through to the Last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts after seeing off Dave Chisnall in a thrilling win which saw the latter miss multiple match darts to send the defending champion home.
But for Price, it was all about finding that extra gear when it mattered most and moving through in the end to face Danny Noppert.
"I'm glad to get it over with, Dave (Chisnall) hit some really good shots at timely parts of the game and put me under some real pressure and I think pick pocketed a few legs off me. Same with Raymond yesterday, I got in front. I must just like to entertain,"
"I put myself under a lot of pressure yesterday but today I sort of chilled out like if I win, I win but when you're caught out in the game and the pressure's mount up you sort of don't think that in the game. But I'm thinking 3-2, 3-3 that I'm right under the cosh and found a little extra gear."
He also discussed the notion of surviving one scare to then win the tournament and said that there is a target firmly on his back as World Number One.
"Most years I lose a game in the group stages. I usually top it but not this year, I'm not sure who's in the best form Danny (Noppert) or Simon (Whitlock) so it might have worked out to my favor."
"There is a target on my back. People seem to find that extra 10/20%. I'm just fortunate that I've got a bit more in the tank I can pull out."
