As Adrian Lewis enters 2025 officially no longer a PDC player, following his hiatus from darts, 'Jackpot' is preparing for a darting return. Although it's via the MODUS Super Series first, the two-time world champion has Q-School in his sights for 2026.
“I’ve not gone to Q School this January. I’m writing that off. I’m hoping the following year," Lewis explains honestly, in quotes collected by SunSport, adding that when he does try to return to the PDC, he won't be doing so half-heartedly. “I want to enjoy the game again. I can’t go in half-hearted, I need to go in there 100 per cent. Full heart and soul into it. That would be the way back."
As mentioned, Lewis is soon set to end his near-two-year sabbatical and return to the darting circuit in 2025 on the MODUS Super Series. “Will that mean I’ll get the motivation back? I am hoping so," he says. “When you’ve been doing something for 20 years, it takes its toll on you. I need a break from it. There’s no reason why I cannot go and get my Tour card back. I have had loads of well-wishes. Everywhere I go, people say, ‘When are you coming back?’. I say, ‘Not yet. When I’m ready, I’ll be back’."
Having had issues away from the board and been putting his family first, Lewis has been a notable absentee from the upper echelons of PDC darts. Given his unquestioned natural ability and his almost unrivalled power scoring when in full flow though, if 'Jackpot' can get back to enjoying darts, the possibility of dream matches such as Lewis vs Luke Littler or Luke Humphries, plus Lewis reigniting old rivalries with the likes of Michael van Gerwen could be something to look forward to in 2026.
“What have I missed? The banter. I haven’t missed the arguments I had on stage. But I’ve missed the lads,” he concludes. “Definitely. If I am going back, it will be 100 per cent focused on the third world title. I’ve the experience and the age. All that’s missing is the hunger. Once that is back there is no reason why I cannot go on.”
