The Entries in the preliminary round of the 2025 Winmau World Masters have been confirmed. A total of 129 players will attempt to qualify for the main tournament in Milton Keynes on Wednesday, January 29. These include Daryl Gurney, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Ritchie Edhouse as well as Fallon Sherrock, Leonard Gates as part of the non Tour Card Holder contingent.
The top 24 players on the PDC Order of Merit are admitted directly to the main tournament of the Winmau World Masters. All other Tour Card holders can participate in the preliminary round. They will be joined by players from the PDC's secondary and affiliate tours and four representatives from the JDC circuit.
Players ranked between from spot 25 to 56 on the PDC Order of Merit will enter the qualifying tournament from the last 64. The remaining qualifiers begin the event with a group stage. The players from spot 57 to spot 88 on the PDC Order of Merit will each be placed in one group. They will be joined at random by the remaining participants in their group.
In the preliminary round, games are played over best of 3 sets, with two legs to be won in each set for set wins. One player from each pool advances to the knockout stage. So at the last 64, the 32 pool winners play against the players who were directly admitted to the last 64. Then a elimination schedule is played until eight players remain. These eight players will be added to the main tournament of the Winmau World Masters.

- Would agree that winning the League phase is the pinnacle. Imagine the tragedy if MVG had qualified without winning a night in fourth place then won the play offs. It just shows that the premier league is a money making jaunt for a few elites and the PDC and a night out for pissheads. - it actually benefits humphries to agree with you as it'll mean he's on a list of three rather than four who've done it. that said, the premier league is by far one of the most difficult tournaments to win so i don't personally disparage that achievement too much, especially for players who've qualified by right rather than invitation (although i'd argue winning the league phase is probably more of an achievement than winning the playoffs).colt01-06-2025
- It’s not the ‘Triple Crown’, thats the three Worlds, Championship, Matchplay and Grand Prix. May carry more prize money however the Premier League is still just a glorified promotional tool for drunken non dart fans.
