Before that, the record was long held by Phil Taylor, who won with 114.65 average against Christian Kist in 2014. Geert de Vos is the number four with an average of 113.86 points per turn, which he had set in 2015.
Michael Smith was close to the tournament record in 2019. His average in his pool match against Nathan Aspinall ended at 113.62. Michael van Gerwen (112.66) and Gary Anderson (112.54) had come close to the record a year earlier.
The highest tournament average in the knockout phase is in Taylor's name. The Power threw a 112.37 average in the second round of the 2011 edition against Wes Newton. Two years later, the 16-time world champion reached another 112.16 average in the group stage.
