The highest average is in the name of Michael van Gerwen. He defeated Raymond van Barneveld in the semifinals of the 2017 World Darts Championship in possibly the best darts match of all time. The world number one recorded an average of 114.05, while Van Barneveld himself hit an average of 109.34. Barney's average is the fourth highest average ever at the World Championship and the highest losing average.
