The first ten participants for the 2024
Grand Slam of Darts have been announced. This event is one of the biggest tournaments of the year and features a field of 32 players.
There are several ways players can qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts. First, they can do so by reaching finals of television tournaments. In this way, Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Stephen Bunting, Dimitri van den Bergh, Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Michael van Gerwen, Rowby-John Rodriguez and Mensur Suljovic have assured themselves of participation in the tournament in Wolverhampton.
So that's nine players. If there are not 16 different TV finalists, then players who have won titles on the Euro Tour and Players Championship circuit will be considered. Dave Chisnall, Josh Rock, Gary Anderson and Martin Schindler have won a Euro Tour and are provisionally qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts via this achievement. The same goes for Players Championship winners Jonny Clayton, Damon Heta and Danny Noppert.
So the winners of the Euro Tours and Players Championship tournaments have to hope that there are no more new TV finalists. Big names like Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall and Peter Wright, for example, have not yet qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts.
The latter does apply to Gian van Veen. He is among the remaining qualifiers because the Dutchman reached the final of the PDC World Youth Championship in 2023. The winners of the PDC Challenge Tour, PDC Development Tour, PDC Asian Championship and CDC Continental Cup as well as the winners of the Women's World Matchplay and the PDC Women's Series can also expect an invitation to the Grand Slam of Darts.
