Fallon Sherrock has long been one of the biggest names in women's darts. If the 'Queen of the Palace' is to return to the Ally Pally for the 2025 World Darts Championship however, she still has a little work to do on the PDC Women's Series.
"I feel like when there's pressure on me, I kinda perform a bit better than what I have been," Sherrock, who sits 3rd overall in the Order of Merit, says confidently in conversation with Online Darts. "I started off the year alright. Then obviously this middle part has just been a bit harder. But it gives me an ambition to go out all guns blazing because I know what I have to lose now and I don't want to lose it."
"When I'm on the Women's Series, I 100% get complacent," she admits. "Unless I'm playing Beau Greaves, where I know exactly what I have to do, I need a 90+ average if I'm going to beat her. I just find that complacency is what lets me down because I know I've got the game it just doesn't show up all the time. But yeah, I've just always suffered with my complacency, even in the WDF, BDO all of that."
In the women's game at the moment however, the darts has become somewhat overshadowed of late by the ongoing political drama. "Every we go, there's always conversations and stuff happening. I just want to play darts. I don't want to get involved in any politics!" Sherrock weighs in. "But everyone else just sits there, and instead of playing their own game, they just worry about what others are saying. The politics and everyone talking is affecting the women's game. I think they just need to stop talking and focus on their own games. These women have the potential to go so far, but they get caught up in everything."
Currently, one of the most in form darters on the planet, is Sherrock's partner, Cameron Menzies. "I don't know what I've done to him, I think I've created a monster!" Sherrock laughs. "He's just playing absolutely phenomenal at the moment and hopefully he can just carry on."
Will the duo ever do battle on the big stage though? "Can you imagine the arguments afterwards regardless who won?" Sherrock smiles at the thought. "It'd just be so nervy and I don't think it'd be a good game for anyone to watch. I know everyone does want to see it, but it would be so nervy."
