Luke Littler has taken another striking step in his impressive
Premier League campaign in Aberdeen. The young Englishman won Night 13 of the
Premier League Darts with a 6-5 victory over Luke Humphries in the final, and as a result climbs back to the top of the table. He sounded satisfied afterwards, though he remained strikingly down-to-earth about his performances and ambitions.
Thrilling final
The final in Aberdeen against a strong-performing Luke Humphries was particularly tense. Littler had to go to the limit to secure the win. Humphries kept pace for a long time and made life anything but easy for the winner. Littler reflected honestly on the contest: “I definitely thought he had a chance… I think it was still a good-paced game. But yeah, I think Luke played very well there," he said on
Sky Sports.
Littler was clearly respectful about his opponent. “Obviously, I think Luke slowed his throw down quite a bit, but that’s for him,” he said afterwards. It’s an observation that shows how focused Littler was during the match, and how he consciously noticed subtle differences in tempo and approach. Despite that contrast, the contest stayed level right to the end, which gives extra weight to the 6-5 scoreline.
With this victory, Littler claims his fifth nightly title of the season. That success puts him back on top of the standings, just ahead of Jonny Clayton. His ambition, however, extends beyond leading the table. “That’s the chase now—to break my own record,” he said. “But yeah, like you said, the last two weeks I’ve definitely deserved the wins.”
Back on top
The young Englishman is already looking beyond single nights. “Yeah, obviously I always want to be on top,” he said. It underlines his growing hunger not only to win matches, but to dominate the entire competition. In a format where consistency is crucial, Littler seems to understand ever better how to peak week after week.
His comment on the battle at the top was also noteworthy. Speaking about Jonny Clayton, he said: “I think Johnny… he just says, ‘get to the O2.’”
Luke Littler is back on top in the Premier League Darts
Beyond his sporting analysis, Littler also offered a glimpse into his mindset on the night. “I think I was just comfortable. Practice was going well, and I’m glad to bring it onto the stage,” he explained. That confidence once again seemed to play a key role in his victory, especially in a deciding leg where small details made the difference.
Finally, he gave his verdict on the atmosphere in Aberdeen: “The crowd—they were okay tonight, but definitely not the loudest… The loudest they were was when I was going for double ten. I think we need another Scottish player in the Premier League to get the atmosphere up a bit.”
