The rise of
Beau Greaves in the ProTour Order of Merit towards the World Championship is one of the standout stories of the current darts season. The Englishwoman has impressively positioned herself above established names like Josh Rock and
Michael van Gerwen, which makes her achievement all the more remarkable. What makes this development even more striking is the fact that Greaves has done this without playing on the lucrative
European Tour.
On that circuit, the earnings are considerably higher than at the regular Players Championship events, one of which Greaves
managed to win last week. Players active there can add £5,000 to the rankings with just one match win.
Those kinds of financial boosts weigh heavily in the
Pro Tour Order of Merit and often allow regular participants to build a lead. Greaves has deliberately passed up those opportunities, but she compensates for that disadvantage impressively with consistent performances on the floor.
Consistency and efficiency
Her strength this season clearly lies in consistency and efficiency. While others fluctuate, Greaves keeps playing her way into the decisive stages of tournaments. As a result, she steadily collects prize money and climbs the rankings, without relying on one or two outliers. The fact that she still sits above players who do complete the full circuit says a lot about her current level.
The margins to the absolute top are also small. Her deficit to Stephen Bunting is just £750, while she needs to make up £4,750 on Luke Littler. Those are amounts that can be bridged relatively quickly in today’s darts landscape, especially when a player has a strong tournament.
Greaves’s performances therefore raise the question of how far she could go if she decides to expand her schedule by entering the European Tour. With her current form and consistency, it seems likely that she would establish herself even more firmly at the top of the rankings.
Beau Greaves has held a PDC Tour Card since this season
For now, though, she is already proving that she belongs among the standout performers even without those extra opportunities. Her rise is therefore not only impressive, but also a powerful message to the rest of the field.
