"This is what the fans are in for - me and Luke are back!": Luke Littler fires ominous signs about Luke Humphries rivalry after Czech Darts Open final

Luke Littler showed that he is still very much in title winning form as he returned to the European Tour this past weekend and shattered through the field to seal yet another title defeating his nearest rival Luke Humphries 8-6 in the process at the Czech Darts Open.

For Littler, it was a particularly important victory. The World Champion was determined to qualify for the European Championship in Dortmund likely as a vehicle to take the rest of the season off and it managed to work out for him. He appears to have successfully achieved that mission.

The rivalry between Littler and Humphries has seen the duo become two of the biggest storylines in the darting world in recent years and one where they have often faced off. They haven't in a while due to a modicum of reasons e.g Humphries at times hitting top gear when Littler isn't there and Littler not playing. But in Prague the fans were again treated to a duel between the sports' leading lights. “The two best [players] going at it in a final once again. I’m glad I’ve won.

The final was therefore anything but an easy task for the teenager. Humphries, who won the title in Prague last year, was determined to defend his crown. Littler, however, kept his composure and eventually prevailed 8-6.

For Littler, the victory also marked a perfect comeback on the European Tour. After a period away from the European circuit, 'The Nuke' immediately showed why he belongs among the absolute world elite.

The victory therefore carried extra significance for Littler. Not only did he get to lift another trophy, but he also took an important step towards his next goal: the European Championship in Dortmund. “It’s good to be back and I’m back with a bang! These long days are worth it, especially lifting the trophy.

Littler had made it clear beforehand that qualifying for the tournament in Dortmund was an important goal for him. The ranking for the European Championship was therefore being closely monitored. After his victory in Prague, the Englishman could breathe a sigh of relief. "I think I’ve secured my place in Dortmund - Dortmund is the one I’m chasing!”

With his success in Prague, Littler appears to have found his form at exactly the right time. His return to the European Tour immediately produced a title, while the crowd was once again treated to the clash that so many darts fans had been waiting for: Littler against Humphries.
