This is why Gerwyn Price is not competing in this weekend's Dutch Darts Championship

Gerwyn Price is the big absentee at this weekend's Dutch Darts Championship in Leeuwarden.

'The Iceman' is the only player from the top-12 of the world ranking list who has not qualified for the Euro Tour tournament in the Netherlands.

For the ranking for the Euro Tour tournaments, the Pro Tour Order of Merit is used. For this ranking, the results of the floor tournaments and the Euro Tour tournaments count.

At the time of the cut-off for the Dutch Darts Championship, on 28 February, Price was no longer in the top-16 of the Pro Tour Order of Merit. So his two Euro Tour titles in late March and early April came too late.

The Welshman still had the option of trying to qualify via the Tour Card qualifying tournament, but chose to skip it. Incidentally, Price will also miss the Euro Tour tournaments in Wieze, Belgium (5-7 May) and the Czech capital Prague (12-14 May) for the same reason.
