Gary Anderson has been regularly written off by darts fans and darts followers in recent years, but in 2023, for the time being, he is cutting off the mouths of these critics.
After 28 of the 30 Players Championship tournaments, "The Flying Scotsman" leads the Players Championship Order of Merit, potentially leading the Scotsman's placement list at the Players Championship Finals at the end of November.
That Anderson is having an excellent season is also evident from statistics from TheRedBit. His figures show that Anderson has reached at least five Pro Tour finals in one calendar year for only the fifth time in his career. Of these finals, Anderson managed to win three, and lost two.
In 2011 and 2014, the two-time world champion even reached eight Pro Tour finals. In 2010, he reached seven finals and in 2017, the Scottish darter was in six Pro Tour finals.
Anderson managed to reach only one Pro Tour final in 2020 and 2022, while he did not reach a final at all in 2019 and 2021. Thus, Anderson has already played more Pro Tour finals this season than in the past four seasons combined. If 'The Flying Scotsman' can show his good form at the televised tournaments in the fall as well, Anderson will be competing for prizes there as well.
