On December 15, the 30th edition of the World Darts Championship at the PDC begins. In the run-up to the start of this tournament, Dartsnews looks back at beautiful and remarkable events from the history of the World Championship.
This time focusing on the fantastic 2007 World Championship final between
Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld. 'The Power' grabbed a 3-0 lead in sets, but 'Barney' slowly but surely came back into the match.
It eventually became 6-6 sets and then 5-5 in legs. A deciding leg had to decide who would walk away with the world title. Van Barneveld earned the starting right in the final leg, but it was Taylor who opened best with a 180 score.
However, the Dutchman countered back with a maximum score of his own, and then left tops after 12 arrows. Taylor was unable to better this, with Van Barneveld taking his fifth world title via dohble top.
