THROWBACK VIDEO: Van Barneveld hits classic nine-dart finish at World Matchplay

As the World Matchplay edges closer with the draw and schedule being confirmed for the showpiece event which takes place in Blackpool from next weekend, we take a look at another classic moment.
In this case, it comes from Raymond van Barneveld who despite not being involved in this year's tournament has had his fair share of brilliant moments on the Winter Gardens stage.
One of them came in 2010 when he faced Denis Ovens; with 'Barney' seven legs ahead of Ovens he hit a brilliant nine-dart finish which he never looked like missing.
This also includes the distinctive commentary of the late, great Sid Waddell who called the nine-darter to perfection in Blackpool.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
