This weekend the German Darts Open is on the schedule in Jena. This tournament could not be held the last two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last edition therefore took place in 2019. After previous titles for Peter Wright (2017) and Max Hopp (2018), this time it was Michael van Gerwen who claimed the overall victory at the German Darts Open.
After a 6-1 victory over Dimitri van den Bergh in his first match, 'Mighty Mike' was better each time after a deciding leg against Raymond van Barneveld (6-5), Nathan Aspinall (6-5) and Dave Chisnall (7-6).
Van Gerwen then faced Ian White in the final. That match was a piece of cake for the Dutchman, as Van Gerwen won the final 8-3.
