THROWBACK VIDEO: Wade ends Taylor’s dominant Premier League run with 2009 final win

February was usually the month that the Premier League Darts would begin but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, that is not the case. As a result, DartsNews takes a look back at some of the best matches and moments from previous years.

Onto the 2009 final which saw James Wade end the dominant run of Phil Taylor and become the second player to win the Premier League Darts. The Machine was too strong for Mervyn King in the final 13-8.

King had dealt with Phil Taylor in the semi-finals, while Wade had defeated Raymond van Barneveld in the last four. The left-handed darter also reached the final of the Premier League Darts in 2008 and 2010, but finished runner up both times.
