In what is already a changed schedule due to the England Euro 2024 game has also seen another change as football fans will be allowed to wear their shirts which goes against usual PDC rules at the
World Matchplay.
On the ticket terms and conditions, it states that no football colours or shirts are allowed into the venue during tournaments. But the PDC's account on social media platform X confirmed that England shirts will be allowed. Albeit it got a lot of replies saying what about Spain too which presumably is also allowed.
England produced a stunning last minute winner at the hands of Ollie Watkins to defeat the Netherlands on Wednesday night and reach the final where they will face Spain. The World Matchplay as expected will accommodate such an occasion for the England fans with slightly earlier sessions with the evening session in particular starting almost straight after the afternoon in a bid to finish just as England kick off.
Big screens will be in the Winter Gardens showing the game with ticket holders allowed to stay and use the concessions. No doubt there will be some sore heads in Blackpool on Monday morning win or lose.
A PDC statement said the following: "As the England football team have made the final of UEFA Euro 2024, which will be played on Sunday evening, we want to give everyone the opportunity to get behind them and have decided to bring forward the timings for both sessions on Sunday July 14 at the Betfred World Matchplay to allow fans to enjoy the thrilling action from the iconic Winter Gardens in Blackpool before the football.
"Therefore, if you have a ticket for either the Afternoon or Evening Session on Sunday 14 July, then please be aware of the new session times below that will now apply and will replace the original times listed on your tickets.
"Following the conclusion of the Evening Session, the UEFA Euro 2024 final will be shown live on the big screens in the arena to allow fans to get behind the England team from their seats without having to leave the venue – and in addition, the food and drink concessions from the Winter Gardens will remain open for the football.
