Tim Pusey made a major statement during the fourth weekend of the Australian Darts Association (ADA) Tour.
The 33-year-old Australian won no fewer than three of the four tournaments in Melton, taking a huge leap up the rankings. Only Event 15 eluded him, meaning he ultimately leaves with three titles from four events and can look back on an almost perfect weekend.
Match darts survived
Pusey began his streak on Friday by taking Event 13. On his way to the final he convincingly saw off Shane Bulger, David Boyle, Brandon Charlton and Josh Kime. In the semi-finals, though,
Joe Comito looked set to stop him. Pusey survived two match darts from his compatriot and still pinched the decider. Ranking leader Raymond Smith awaited in the final, and he was beaten 6-4. That gave Pusey his first title of the ADA Tour season.
Less than a day later, a second top prize followed immediately. In Event 14, Pusey again had to dig deep to reach the final. After several hard-fought wins, he defeated Comito once more in the semi-finals, this time by a clear 6-2. He then faced Stuart Coburn in a thrilling showdown. Coburn seemed on course for the title at 5-4 up, but Pusey produced back-to-back 14-darters at the perfect moment to completely turn the match around. With a 6-5 victory he also claimed the weekend’s second tournament.
Although
Raymond Smith fell in the semi-finals of Event 14, the current ADA Tour leader again showed why he tops the rankings. In his match against Matt Dorotich, Smith averaged a superb 103.39, the highest average of the entire weekend.
On Sunday, Pusey capped his impressive display by also winning Event 16, the only tournament played in a set format. After routine wins over Michael Casser and Jamie Hales, he produced his best darts of the weekend against Puna Ben. With a 96.74 average, he cruised to a 2-0 victory in sets. He then knocked out Matt Dorotich to reach the semi-finals.
There he met Mal Cuming, who earlier in the day had himself averaged well over a ton in his win over Stephen Schmit. Cuming couldn’t halt Pusey either. The final brought yet another showdown with Joe Comito. For the third time that weekend, Pusey had the better of his compatriot. He dropped just two legs and crowned an exceptional weekend with his third tournament win.
Joe Comito took the title at Event 15
Comito denies Pusey four from four
For Joe Comito, the weekend still took on a golden glow. The former PDC World Darts Championship participant won Event 15 to secure his first ADA Tour title. He dropped only five legs across his opening three matches before cruising past Tim Pusey 6-1 in the quarter-finals. He then beat Mal Cuming 6-3 to book a final against Howard Jones. There, Comito again showed his class, averaging 98.52 in a convincing 6-2 win to lock up his maiden ADA Tour crown.
Stuart Coburn also delivered a memorable moment during Event 15. In his match against Josh Kime he produced a perfect leg, throwing a nine-darter. The perfect leg leveled the match at 4-4, but Coburn ultimately lost in a last-leg decider and the nine-darter had no fitting sequel.
Despite not winning any of the four tournaments, Raymond Smith strengthened his grip on the ADA Tour title race. The Australian reached at least the quarter-finals at all four events and stretched his lead over second-placed Brody Klinge to more than one thousand Australian dollars. Thanks to his three tournament wins, Pusey climbed to third in the standings.
Top five bound for Australian Darts Masters
The top five on the ADA Tour have also secured their places at the Australian Darts Masters 2026, part of the PDC World Series of Darts. Raymond Smith, Brody Klinge, Tim Pusey, Joe Comito and Darren Penhall will compete in Wollongong, where they will be joined by Simon Whitlock, Adam Leek and the highest-ranked player from DartPlayers New Zealand.
In addition, Smith, as the highest-ranked player on the ADA Tour, has already qualified for the New Zealand Darts Masters. The remaining berths for that event will be allocated after the upcoming DartPlayers New Zealand weekend.
The ADA Tour resumes in Kingswood, with Events 17 through 20 on the schedule. The overall tour winner will not only claim the title but also secure a coveted spot at the 2027 World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.
