The
World Cup of Darts begins later today from the Salzburgarena in Austria and as a result, we take a look back at the top ten highest team match averages in the history of the tournament.
This brings together the averages of the team's matches together as opposed to individual matches. Netherlands pairing of Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld who claimed the title three times together dominate the standings.
Their highest mark is 117.88 from 2014 Semi-Finals against Brendan Dolan and Mickey Mansell which unsurprisingly saw them roll out 4-0 winners.
There is a big gap from there but they also take second and third with 111.33 against USA in 2017 and 109.33 against Czech Republic from the same year.
Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicholson are next up with 108.41 from 2010's Group Stage in the very first year where they defeated John Part and Ken MacNeil of Canada.
Netherlands are on the list a further three times with the Australian pairing also once more being on the list.
While there are also high averages for Belgium pairing Kim and Ronny Huybrechts (105.48 in 2013 against Finland) as well as Gary Anderson and Robert Thornton from 2010 when they hit 102.35 against USA in the group stages back in 2010.
