Tough opener for Van der Voort at World Championship: 'I can't predict who's going to win that first round match'

Vincent van der Voort is one of the seeded players at the World Championship for the first time since the 2017 edition. This means The Dutch Destroyer has a bye in the first round.

The Dutchman will face the winner of the first round match between Ron Meulenkamp and Boris Krcmar. Therefore Van der Voort is going to get a tough opponent anyway, he admitted to RTL 7.

''They are both very good players. I can't predict who of them is going to win (the first round match). I saw Boris last weekend (at the Players Championship) and he was playing very well. And Ron, he is a tough opponent.''

A possible match with fellow Dutchman Meulenkamp is one of the three potential Dutch clashes in the second round. Van der Voort is not really bothered with playing a countryman. ''In the first place, I want to reach the third round. For the darts in the Netherlands it is maybe not fun when Dutch players are facing each other so early in the tournament. But at the end I'm playing there for myself and then I don't really care about that.''
