From Friday, March 21, to Sunday, March 23, the
European Darts Trophy 2025 will take place at the Lokhalle in Göttingen. The German venue will host the second Euro Tour event of the year. This marks the first time since 2018 that a Euro Tour tournament will be held at this location.
The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As is customary with Euro Tour events, the European Darts Trophy consists of three days of competition, each featuring two sessions. The afternoon sessions will begin daily at 12:00 PM, while the evening sessions will start at 6:00 PM.
Many big names will compete in the second Euro Tour event of the season, with all the world's top players having signed up to continue their campaign in the circuit. However, reigning world champion Luke Littler will be the only notable absentee. The likes of Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright, Nathan Aspinall, James Wade, Gary Anderson, and Dimitri Van den Bergh will all be in action. As top-16 seeded players, they will enter the tournament in the second round.
The first round takes place on Friday, where the 16 Pro Tour players will be paired against 16 qualifiers who earned their spots through various qualifying tournaments. The top 16 seeds will then enter the competition in the second round on Saturday. The tournament will conclude on Sunday, beginning with the third round in the afternoon session, followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final in the evening session.
The European Darts Trophy was first held in 2013, with Wes Newton taking the inaugural title. Michael Smith then won the 2014 and 2015 editions, defeating Michael van Gerwen in both finals. However, it was third time lucky for Van Gerwen, who claimed the title in 2016 after back-to-back final losses. He went on to win again in 2017 and 2018. After a seven-year absence, Mighty Mike will now have the chance to defend his title once again.
