Many big names are competing in the fourth Euro Tour tournament of the season. The list of participants includes top favorites Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price, as well as players such as Dave Chisnall, Nathan Aspinall, Petre Wright, James Wade and Josh Rock. They are all among the top-16 seeded players and will enter the tournament from the second round.
In addition to the top 16 world rankings, the 16 best Pro Tour players were also guaranteed participation. They do have to start the tournament from the first round. This includes Mike de Decker, Joe Cullen, Ryan Searle, Michael Smith and Cameron Menzies.
The first round will take place on Saturday. The 16 Pro Tour players are then paired with one of the 16 players who managed to get through the various qualifying tournaments. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Sunday in the second round. The denouement of the tournament follows on Monday, with the third round first in the afternoon session. Monday evening the quarter-finals, semifinals and finals will follow.
It is the seventh time the German Darts Grand Prix has been held. Van Gerwen won the first edition in Mannheim in 2017. A year later, the tournament moved to Munich, where Van Gerwen would also take the title in 2018 and 2019. Due to the corona pandemic, the event did not take place in 2020 and 2021. Upon returning to the calendar, Humphries captured the title in 2022. Michael Smith ran away with the title in 2023, before Humphries took the title for a second time in 2024.
