A new winner Saturday afternoon on the PDC
Development Tour. Tyler Thorpe managed to capture his first title at the Robin Park Leisure Centre in Wigan during the eighteenth event of the season.
The Englishman had to win eight matches for it. Thorpe easily got through his first five rounds with victories over Killian Heffernan (4-1), Rohan Brouwers (4-1), Harrison Leigh (4-1), Sebastian Bialecki (4-1) and Joseph Brady (4-0).
After that, he faced some more opposition. In the last eight, Charlie Manby was defeated 5-3 before reaching the final with a 5-4 win over James Beeton. In the final, Thorpe then won 5-3 over Viktor Tingstrom.
The Development Tour is the youth circuit of the PDC. This tour is open to players ages 16 through 23. Players who turn 24 during the season may continue to compete.
At each Development Tour tournament there is a prize pool of 15,000 pounds to be divided. With the prize money, a ranking is established. At the end of the season, the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2026 and 2027. The ranking winner also gets to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts.
