The Last 16 is set with Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gary Anderson, Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen all through at the UK Open.
Humphries was perhaps the most impressive at the UK Open as 'Cool Hand Luke' handed Dave Chisnall a pretty academic thrashing in the end to be the final player through to the latter stages.
At one point he led 7-1 over Chisnall. He broke immediately with an 11-darter and then again for 3-0 on Double 20. Another break wouldn't come again until 6-1 on double 14 but this set him on the way to seven.
Chisnall made it 9-4 to spare his blushes after Humphries went one away but in the end Humphries found a way and was one of many big names to seal victory this afternoon.

Littler faces issues, Price and Anderson triumph

Luke Littler faced issues against Kevin Doets on the main stage but managed to get through. After early breaks mainly in Doets direction who was throwing for a 3-0 lead early, Littler steadied the ship.
A 12-darter double 16 for Littler to make it 2-2 saw him hit back immediately. Littler hits double one after Doets missed dart after dart to hold and he is now 3-2 up in the early knockings here breaking and he was now throwing for a 4-2 lead. But a break back for Doets who pinned double eight after Littler missed chances to hold.
Littler broke back and while he was not at his best yet, he hit a 21 darter for instance to go 6-4 up with a 56 checkout but he was four from the finish. Doets was crawling on for dear life. Littler went 9-7 up but since then Doets took out a 12-darter for 9-8 and was looking to send it all the way with a break. But he couldn't as Littler scraped over the line.
Gerwyn Price made light work of the often lauded Wessel Nijman too with the Dutchman being well beaten in a 10-5 win for 'The Iceman' in the end who hit a 101.8 average and seven 180's en route to sealing the win on the Main Stage.
Michael van Gerwen faced early issues against Kai Gotthardt in the game which many expected would've been the easiest on the Stage Two schedule given it was MVG who even not at his best right now is still a big favourite.
It was a supreme display in the end from the Green Machine but also it showed fragility at other junctures. He was made to work as Gotthardt led early and made it 5-5 at the break.
But the German did not win another leg as Van Gerwen who uncharacteristically was on Stage Two for once made it through with a 95 average, four 180's, 10/24 on the doubles and hit a highest checkout of 86.
Gary Anderson started the main stage entertainment off on Saturday as The Flying Scotsman took down Martin Schindler 10-7 with a 105.8 average, six 180's and 55% on the doubles.
Albeit for the first ten legs, there were no breaks at all and it was all holds of throw. They both hit 74 in back-to-back legs for instance to make it 5-5.
But he finally broke and then he went one away hitting a 121 checkout to go 8-6 up and he followed that up with an 11-dart 56 checkout. Schindler got one more leg but it was academic in the end as Anderson booked his name in the hat for tonight's draw.

Clayton, Noppert thrive

At the same time, Jonny Clayton was continuing his wonderful form with The Ferret taking down Darryl Pilgrim on Stage Two averaging 96.7 with six 180's and 50% on the doubles. While over on the outside boards which will be used for the final time before the Last 16, Ross Smith's form could not continue as Daryl Gurney punished a poor display of finishing from 'Smudger' as he came from 5-3 down to book his spot winning through 10-8 on Stage Three.
At times though there were drubbings as James Wade and Danny Noppert showed their supreme class to book a spot in the Last 16. Three-time champion Wade who is the only player to win the title in three different decades cruised into the latter stages in a 10-2 win over Gabriel Clemens.

Thrashing for James Wade on the outer boards.
Danny Noppert was also in the mood as 'The Freeze' who mooted that he was struggling with food poisoning seemed to have no such stomach problems today. Albeit it will be a tough pill to swallow for Wright who suffered a pretty damning defeat 10-2. The 2017 champion was defeated by the 2022 champion who hit a 142 checkout, averaging 99.97 and hitting eight 180's.
Stephen Bunting also took in a similarly heavy rout as he eased past Mensur Suljovic 10-2 with a 98.5 average on Stage Three to end his run. While Rob Cross held his nerve to edge out Mike de Decker 10-9 on Stage Two who himself missed a match dart in the deciding leg and will be kicking himself that he couldn't convert his best run on TV in some time.
Martin Lukeman also thrashed Madars Razma 10-3 while wins also for Krzysztof Ratajski who saw off Oskar Lukasiak 10-5. Michael Smith's run also ended at the hands of Ryan Searle 10-9, while Keane Barry and Josh Rock also moved through.
