On Saturday, the first two tournaments of the 2025 PDC Women's Series were played out in Leicester. After Lisa Ashton took victory in the opening event, Fallon Sherrock defeated Beau Greaves in the final of tournament 2, to get up and running for the 2025 season.
In a battle of the two biggest stars in women's darts, neither Sherrock nor Greaves produced their very best level, with averages in the high 70s for most of the contest. Nevertheless though, for Sherrock it's a big victory and the perfect start to the new season after just falling short once again at Q-School earlier this year.
"Unfortunately for Beau, she didn't play how she could, and fortunately for me I just got over the line," the 'Queen of the Palace' reflected in her post-match interview afterwards. "I'm very happy with this win today, because I'm just trying to find some confidence and form at the moment. There has been glimpses of it and times where it's not been there. I'll happily take the win today."
Later this afternoon, two more Women's Series events will be played out in Leicester, giving Sherrock, Greaves, Ashton and the rest of the field more opportunities for success on the opening weekend of the tour.
If there are at least 128 players competing, the PDC Women's Series participants will be awarded prizes from the last 64, with fifty pounds for reaching this round. If there are fewer than 128 players, the counter only starts running from the last 32. In that case they do collect one hundred pounds.
This amount eventually keeps increasing. Reaching the final already earns 1,000 pounds. The winner of the tournament receives 2,000 pounds in prize money. The number one of the Women's Series Order of Merit gets to compete at the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Darts Championship, while the number two also gets to compete at Alexandra Palace.
