Last weekend, Michael van Gerwen won the Belgian Darts Open. 'Mighty Mike' did so by beating Luke Humphries 8-6 in the final.
During the final, the 34-year-old Dutchman achieved a nice milestone. Van Gerwen became the first player ever to have won more than 2,000 legs on the PDC European Tour.
This circuit has existed since 2012 and 104 tournaments have now been played since its inception. In this period, Van Gerwen managed to pick up a total of 2006 legs. Peter Wright is second in this statistic with 1400 legs won. Behind him follow Dave Chisnall (1116 legs), Michael Smith (1045 legs), and Mensur Suljovic (1015 legs).
