Van Barneveld hits 113 average in Players Championship 10 opener as Anderson, Beaton and Whitlock out

The first round has began at Players Championship 10 with the first 16 ties on each of the boards now complete.
Raymond van Barneveld is on Board One and started in superb fashion. The doyen of Dutch Darts eased past Mike de Decker in a vintage display 6-1 with a 113 average.
Albeit, there were defeats for familiar names with Simon Whitlock, Martin Lukeman, Steve Beaton, Gary Anderson and Daryl Gurney.
Victories though for Chris Dobey with a 104 average against Krzysztof Kciuk, Callan Rydz, Vincent van der Voort, Jeffrey de Zwaan and Gabriel Clemens.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
