The first Quarter-Finalist at the
Grand Slam of Darts is
Dimitri van den Bergh after a clinical win over Jonny Clayton to begin the Last 16 in Coventry.
Van den Bergh has made the Quarter-Finals now in the Grand Slam twice in three years but of course is now a major champion and will have the belief that he can go all the way once more this week.
Especially after this display easing past Jonny Clayton in a 10-3 win with a 103.6 average and eight 180's as his brilliance continues.
He was averaging 123 in the outset of the contest as he went 2-1 up and followed that up with a break to make it 3-1.
Clayton though wasn't going to lie down and he broke back straight away with a 60 checkout to make it 3-2 but as soon as they returned from the interval, Van den Bergh went on fire once more as he smashed in two 180's and an 81 checkout to move 4-2 ahead.
Despite five missed darts on double which led to Clayton claiming a hold at 5-3, this proved a consolation as Van den Bergh romped into a 7-3 lead upping his average to 105 and making it seven 180's as he broke again.
It was 8-3 with a hold and another break saw him at 9-3 on the verge of closing it out and that he did with a 110 checkout.
