Van den Bergh on blockbuster Price clash after epic Chisnall win: "I'm going to give 100 percent and I'll never back down"

Dimitri van den Bergh will face off against Gerwyn Price in the Quarter-Finals of the World Matchplay after seeing off Dave Chisnall in an epic battle on Tuesday night.
Van den Bergh produced one of the best displays of the tournament so far seeing off the St Helens ace 11-8 as he continued his title defence.

"It was an insane battle, a fabulous game," said Van den Bergh. "I'm very proud and I'm feeling good, I'm buzzing.
"I didn't expect to break a record but I was expecting a lot of 180s from Chizzy and I had to step it up.
"I missed a lot of doubles but I had to keep digging in, and at the end of the day I pulled through and managed to win against one of the biggest scorers in darts.
"Even though I'm the defending champion, I think I'm handling this really well. I know that my doubles need to be better in the next game, so I've got to be focused.
Next up - blockbuster Price clash
Like alluded to, next up is Gerwyn Price and for the Belgian ace, he admitted more is needed against the World Number One.
"I'm playing the world number one and World Champion, and I'm the current reigning World Matchplay champion so it's going to be a fantastic game and I'm going to throw everything I can against Gezzy.
"I hope I can step up another level, especially with my finishing. I'm feeling good and the game against Dave has given me a lot of confidence. I'm going to give 100 percent and I'll never back down until the last double is hit."

- As prize money increases each year and there are now more tournaments then logically breaking the £2 million barrier is going to happen, only thing preventing it is the now deeper strength in depth of the darting field. If you took Taylor’s best two consecutive years and substituted the prize money from now onto the tournaments he won he would have passed the £2 million.Mysstree26-11-2024
