Vincent van der Voort is successfully through a potential tough test against Keane Barry in straight sets as 'The Dutch Destroyer' showed his experience against the Irish youngster who performed well at times on his debut in the showpiece event.
Van der Voort himself averaged 95 and hit four 180's as well as 45 percent on his doubles as he won through to a meeting with Dave Chisnall.
Van der Voort started well taking the opening leg; but Barry finished double 10 in order to level up and he then smashed in a 180 and a 72 checkout to make it two a piece; as a result he forced a decider which he himself only just got through.
It was basically a carbon copy in the requisite set; with Barry forcing Van der Voort into a decider but Big Vinnie was up to the task taking the second set and going one away from victory.
He grew even more in confidence claiming going 2-0 up; from there he concluded the victory to defeat the youngster who played well on his Alexandra Palace debut but couldn't find a way past the experienced Dutchman.
