Van der Voort comes from two sets down to defeat Meulenkamp in sudden death thriller

Vincent van der Voort is successfully through to the Third Round at the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship after disposing of Ron Meulenkamp in a sudden death thriller.

Van der Voort came from 2-0 down to defeat Meulenkamp averaging 95.5 en route with four 180's as the Dutch Destroyer began his campaign with victory over his compatriot.

Meulenkamp was superb to start the tie off with a 3-1 opening set win with a 96 average and 75% on the doubles as he set down an early benchmark.

This continued as he took out 144 en route to going one set way with Van der Voort needing a big end to the game to come through.

This was the case though with Van der Voort claiming the third set 3-1 to get himself back into the tie and his confidence grew from there as he claimed the fourth without reply to force a decider.

Despite that though, he had to go to sudden death for his comeback to be complete with the first four legs being shared but importantly Van der Voort had the throw.

A 14-darter on double 20 with Meulenkamp sat waiting on 81 concluded it for Van der Voort as his comeback was complete.
