Van der Voort on scrappy win over Klaasen: “It was a struggle from the first dart on”

Vincent van der Voort is through to the second round of the Players Championship Finals after seeing off Jelle Klaasen in a scrappy 6-4 win but for the Dutchman, it was a real struggle.

“It was a struggle from the first dart on, I didn’t play well. I wasn’t on it, I wasn’t playing well but happy days, normally I would have lost those matches so I’m happy to get through,” said Van der Voort post match.

Hughes COVID

Klaasen was a late replacement for Jamie Hughes who was out of action with COVID-19. He said that he didn’t pay no mind to that and it was more of a mental barrier on his side.

“It’s all about me, I have to prepare myself for the best and I have to play my best I can. I didn’t today but I get away with it. I won really ugly, I have to do something different tomorrow.”

“I’m playing well, I’m practicing really well so it has to do with something mentally so I’ll have to change that.”
