Jules Van Dongen will continue his whirlwind darting dream between June 3-4 by playing at Madison Square Garden in the US Darts Masters.
A World Series dream he is looking forward to and one he just wants to take in.
“That’s one of my dreams come true. To play New York in a venue like that is just incredible,” said Van Dongen to Tungsten Tales.
“We’ll have two looks at it with the North American Championship and the World Series, to be able to do it twice is amazing. That’s one of the reasons why I think mentally I got to the stage where I thought I need to enjoy what I am doing and not be so focused on my performance. I might never get this chance again so if I don’t enjoy it I’ll kick myself in the shins a year from now.”
European Tour debut in Prague
Another debut came recently at the Czech Darts Open in Prague and despite losing in the second round to Rob Cross, he took a lot from it.
“My goal was to win obviously. Usually I want to look good, I want to play well but to be honest, I just wanted that win. I couldn’t care less if it was a 50 average or 90 average, I just needed that win especially coming off the ProTour with a couple of losses. I did feel pressure, I was a little bit tense.
“The second match against Rob (Cross), it started pretty well. I missed three in hand for 2-2 and then I never saw him back. He was really good. I settled in a bit more that second match, a lot of positives for me out of those two days.”
