Van Duijvenbode after unsuccessful World Matchplay debut against Clayton: "I was way too erratic"

Dirk van Duijvenbode left his tie against Jonny Clayton like he had missed an opportunity to knock 'The Ferret' out of the tournament.

Van Duijvenbode threw a 164 finish to win the third leg and went into the break trailing 3-2 but missed chances blighted the rest of his game after the interval.

“I had several good chances and after that I just couldn't take it anymore. I may have been too excited at first. I was very high in my adrenalin and because of that I may have thrown a bit too fast”, Van Duijvenbode reacted to RTL 7 afterwards.

“I was way too erratic. It was 180 or 43. I threw a good leg or a mediocre leg, there was nothing in between. Then you just lose. But there was definitely more possible.”
