Van Duijvenbode holds his nerve in nail-biting win over Joyce at World Series of Darts Finals

Dirk van Duijvenbode is through to the semi-finals of the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam after surviving a scare against Ryan Joyce in a nail-biting deciding leg win.

Van Duijvenbode won through in a 10-9 win over 'Relentless' who has had a superb weekend but was made to rue a missed match dart in the end against 'The Titan' who seals a latter stage spot on home soil.

To open up the tie, Van Duijvenbode began with a 180 and a 92 checkout for first blood and he soon surged into a 3-0 lead with Joyce averaging just 78.

Surging further ahead at 4-1 and 6-2 with a 131 using two double 20's and treble 17 saw Van Duijvenbode surge closer to the finishing line.

But the wheels started to come off as Joyce reeled off four consecutive legs to silence the crowd and make it 6-6. He hit a fourth 180 and double eight for a 10-darter to make it 7-7 and they continued to exchange legs before Joyce would go one away at 9-8 after Van Duijvenbode missed twelve darts at doubles.

Joyce though wired double 20 for the match in the requisite leg and Van Duijvenbode took out 98 to send it all the way at 9-9 before producing a 56 checkout to send the crowd into raptures.
