Van Duijvenbode returned to work on Monday after World Championship run: "It was a bit more difficult than usual to get out of bed"

Last Friday, Dirk van Duijvenbode was still in the Quarter-Finals of the PDC World Championship but on Monday morning he had to go back to work at the aubergine form but he looks back on his run with pride.

Van Duijvenbode didn't come home until Saturday evening and was expected back at work on Monday morning at 7:30am. "I was away from home for the past three weeks and had very little rest, so it was more difficult than usual to get out of bed. By the way, I have already finished the first practice session, because my boss has especially for me installed a practice room in the office," said Van Duijvenbode to WOS.

Thanks to reaching the quarterfinals at the World Championship, van Duijvenbode has now climbed to 32nd place in the world rankings. "I am very proud of that, especially because I only recaptured my Tour Card at the beginning of this year and actually started from scratch. To reach the top 32 within a year is quite unique, I think."

Legendary interviews

The outside world also got to know van Duijvenbode through his often legendary interviews after matches. “I never actually watch my own interviews,” he laughs. "But of course I really like it when people like that."
