Van Duijvenbode seals four consecutive legs en route to dispatching Anderson, Wade ends Gates run at World Series of Darts Finals

Dirk van Duijvenbode and James Wade are the first two players through to the Quarter-Finals at the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam after dispatching Gary Anderson and Leonard Gates respectively.

Van Duijvenbode punished 12 missed darts at doubles from Anderson as he reeled off four consecutive legs to seal a 6-3 win over Anderson to keep up his good spell of form over his idol.

Anderson led to begin the tie sealing three legs on the spin to go 3-2 up but Van Duijvenbode cleaned up 72 to restore parity at 3-3 before four missed darts at doubles from Anderson allowed Van Duijvenbode to lead 4-3.

Van Duijvenbode nailed double 10 to make it three consecutive legs and move 5-3 ahead before a 72 checkout sealed it for 'The Titan'.

While Wade ended the run of Leonard Gates with a 6-4 triumph as 'The Machine' aims to regain the title he sealed back in 2018.

Punishing six missed darts at double to begin the tie from Gates, Wade did a usual Machine pinning a 126 checkout on the bull to go 1-0 up.

Before breezing into a 4-1 lead from there as he surged towards the next round which was added to as he consolidated his break with a 5-1 win.

Gates though hit back with one last salvo as he hit a 102 checkout to trail 5-2 before breaking and making it three on the spin at 5-4 down but Wade sealed it meaning it was too much of a mountain to climb in the end.
