Van Duijvenbode set to increase practice hours: 'My boss asked whether I practice enough

Dirk van Duijvenbode is full of confidence ahead his Alexandra Palace return for his second World Championship appearance.

The Aubergenius is set to face the newly crowned World Youth Champion Bradley Brooks in the first round. Van Duijvenbode meets Rob Cross when he comes through his first game. "Nice to play someone you actually know. Then you will not be surprised by the way your opponent plays", Van Duijvenbode told RTL 7.

With my current mindset I give myself a really good chance. I have to keep practicing. At the moment 1.5 to 2 hours a day, but want to increase that to a maximum of 4 hours. I have practiced with Maik Kuivenhoven and Marvin van Velzen in the last few days. I don't want to practice to much (with Maik). I could meet him (at the World Championship) and want to avoid the possibility he battered me three times in practice."

The World Grand Prix finalist is also working at an aubergine farm in the Netherlands, but that doesn't disturb his preparation for the World Championship. "My boss just asked me whether I practiced enough. I replied I'm going to increase my hours", he joked.
