Van Duijvenbode thrashes Clemens in sensational whitewash win to seal second ProTour title of the season at Players Championship 18

Dirk van Duijvenbode has sealed a second Players Championship title of the season with Dutch darting destruction at the Barnsley Metrodome as he thrashed Gabriel Clemens 8-0 with a 100 average in another show of the brilliance of the 'Aubergenius'.

While for Van Duijvenbode, it is delight as he adds a second title in Barnsley of the season. The wait goes on for Clemens who now has six finals, six defeats as he had to at times just watch on at the brilliance of the Dutchman as well as missing some doubles en route.

Van Duijvenbode held throw to begin the tie before a distraction came in the form of someone not involved in the tournament walking through the door onto the stream board disrupting proceedings.

But ‘The Titan’ got through it with a 73 checkout seeing Van Duijvenbode break and make it 2-0 which he consolidated to open up his gap to 3-0 as the German still looked distracted.

He followed up two double 20’s for the finish with a 180 to begin Clemens’ throw before missing bull for a 90. He returned though with Clemens missing double five for a 130 checkout and Van Duijvenbode hit double eight to make it 4-0.

He missed a 110 checkout but he returned again with Clemens missing 121 on the bull and Van Duijvenbode made it 5-0.  

An incredible 122 checkout saw him continue to teach Clemens a darting lesson at 6-0 up. An 82 checkout was missed by Van Duijvenbode on the bull but again Clemens was missing doubles and Van Duijvenbode made it 7-0.

He missed double 18 for the match but 104 was missed by Clemens and Van Duijvenbode sealed it on double four.
