Dirk van Duijvenbode is the first player through from the Main Stage in the fourth round of the 2021
UK Open after defeating Gary Anderson in a thriller.
Van Duijvenbode survived two match darts and snatched it at the death producing a 101 average and six 180's to claim his place in the Last 32.
Van Duijvenbode went 5-2 down to begin the tie against Anderson and looked to be up against it but returned from the break and made it five legs in a row to go 7-5 up and the momentum switched to the Dutchman.
Anderson stopped the rot with double 10 to hold and continued with a 96 checkout to make it 7-7 and send it back to parity with a break.
A 171 put Anderson under pressure early on his throw. But Anderson hit a 171 himself to put himself down to a finish first of 140.
Van Duijvenbode was given a shot at 100 but couldn't steady himself and Anderson made it 8/11 on the doubles to edge ahead.
Anderson missed the opportunity to essentially give himself match point at 9-7 up but Van Duijvenbode returned for double four from a 19 checkout.
The former missed three darts to make it 9-8 but against Van Duijvenbode couldn't capitalise and Anderson pinned double five to go one away.
Anderson missed double five for a 130 checkout to win and Van Duijvenbode sent it all the way.
Van Duijvenbode was pounding the treble 20 and was first to a finish on Anderson's throw. He missed double six for a 126 for the match after two perfect in treble 19.
While Anderson then missed bull for an 89 checkout. Van Duijvenbode returned for double three which he pinned.
