Friday night Dirk van Duijvenbode came out on top in an exhibition tournament in Passau, Germany, where MODUS Darts and PDC Europe organised the Passau Darts Gala.
Six players played an exhibition tournament. In the first group was Phil Taylor, Max Hopp and Mensur Suljovic. All three won one match, but based on leg difference Taylor and Suljovic went through to the semi-finals. In Group B were also Jonny Clayton and Joe Cullen. Here too, the victories were shared and Clayton lost out on leg difference.
In the semi-final Van Duijvenbode beat Taylor 4-1, which was his first ever victory over the 16-time world champion. Cullen beat Clayton 4-1 for a place in the final. The final was then won 4-3 by Van Duijvenbode.
