In one of the headline ties of the final night of Last 16 action at the 2021
Grand Slam of Darts,
Michael van Gerwen and
Gary Anderson will renew hostilities.
In the build up, Van Gerwen and Anderson have discussed each other to build up the tie which will be last up on Thursday evening.
‘Gary is Gary, sometimes he tries, sometimes he doesn’t try,’ said Van Gerwen. ‘He’s a very unpredictable player.’
But this has stoked a fire in Anderson who is looking forward to hopefully proving the Green Machine wrong in his assessment.
‘Does that mean he’s worried?’ Anderson said. ‘That means he’s thinking doesn’t it. I try not to think sometimes it helps.
‘We’ll give it a go, he’s a dart player at the end of the day, a very good one.
‘We’ve had some right battles over the years and hopefully we can do the same again.
‘I’m just going to go up there and try to play. If I can go like that [against Van Barneveld] for the duration of the match then we will get a few legs.
‘He might go up and give it big licks – I might get the right cheese on and stick it to him, we’ll see.’
