The Last 16 comes towards its conclusion this evening at the 2021
Grand Slam of Darts with a bumper night of tungsten tussles from top to bottom.
It all begins with Michael Smith facing off against Joe Cullen.
Smith has been one of the form players so far breezing through his group with the only blemish being a tight game against Joe Davis where he needed legs to top the group, while for Cullen - he has been excellent with his only defeat coming in a powerless loss to
Michael van Gerwen who broke the average record against him.
A game which if both score well could take the acclaim on a night where all eyes will be on two games in particular.
But before those,
Peter Wright and
Jose de Sousa will face off. The World Matchplay and Grand Slam champion collide. An interesting year has awaited both with glimmers of a return to form in what has been one of mixed fortunes form wise.
A box office tie previously, could it catch fire on the Wolverhampton stage if both are back to their best.
After that we will get the two main ties that will be discussed in the run up as
Fallon Sherrock once again takes to the stage with a Quarter-Final in her sights.
In her way will be a player with history against the Queen of the Palace in Mensur Suljovic. The second player she beat on that stage two years ago, dreams of doing the same will be there for the superb Milton Keynes ace.
What an act to follow and it will be the monster clash between Michael van Gerwen and
Gary Anderson which will as the old rivals once again do battle.
They've had some brilliant ties over the years and with Van Gerwen getting stronger as the format increases, it could be the last time he will be beaten this week till late on.
