Van Gerwen, Bunting, Clayton, Dobey and Chisnall surge into Last 32 at Players Championship 18

The board finals are well underway at Players Championship1 18 with the Last 32 line-up confirmed. Many big names remain including Michael van Gerwen, Stephen Bunting, Jonny Clayton, Chris Dobey and Dave Chisnall.

Van Gerwen sits on the verge of victory over Matthew Dennant. He saw off Kim Huybrechts narrowly 6-4. Clayton thrashed Jamie Hughes, while Bunting averaged 102 in seeing off Adam Hunt.

Ross Smith hit a nine-darter in his win over Dom Taylor and averaged neartly 109. While there were also standout displays of a similar variety from Andrew Gilding (107), Ryan Searle (106), Ryan Meikle (108) and Karel Sedlacek (104). Ironically all on adjacent boards so something in the air today for sure.

Not for the likes of Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld though. They were defeated at the second round stage when they could've faced off. Jim Williams and Owen Roelofs put a kibosh on that one.
