Michael van Gerwen is closing in on topping the Premier League Darts pile and collecting the league winners' bonus tomorrow night after punishing Jose de Sousa in another superb display from the Green Machine.

Van Gerwen took advantage of two missed darts for a draw from 'The Special One' who was in the reckoning for top spot and is already qualified for finals night.
But after his poor display last year, Mighty Mike will likely top the standings once more.
With both players in superb form, it was a great start to the tie as expected with De Sousa going 3-2 up with three 180's from 'The Special One' and a 103 average.
Van Gerwen drew it level on double 10 at 3-3 despite an off leg of sorts on his throw, the pressure wasn't there from De Sousa.
De Sousa went 25, T20, D18 for a 121 but returned after missing the latter target to make it 4-3 on double nine as the holds continued.
This was the case once more as Van Gerwen levelled up on double 19 pinning it first time at 4-4.
A break of throw was needed and a 180, 140 and 101 left 80 for Mighty Mike who pinned it on double 20 to head 5-4 up. De Sousa couldn't reply and a two leg cushion was set by Van Gerwen at 6-4 up.
A 100 checkout saw MVG go three clear with another break at 7-4 up to confirm at least a point.
A 180 and 140 led De Sousa to a 68 checkout for a break back at 7-5 down as he looked to head towards a potential draw.

Another 180 and double 16 saw an 11-dart hold for De Sousa who sent it to a final leg.
After a poor start, De Sousa left 100 with a 180 but missed two darts for a draw and Van Gerwen hit double 20 first time to snatch a win.
