For Michael van Gerwen, the semi-finals were the end point on Night Two of the Premier League. 'Mighty Mike' lost 6-5 to Gerwyn Price.
Van Gerwen was booed almost the entire time by a frenzied crowd in Cardiff. "What all I heard today, I haven't experienced that very often. But when they whistle at you like that you are also extra motivated to win, unfortunately I failed to do that," Van Gerwen told Viaplay.
Multiple factors
The 33-year-old Dutchman achieved 110 average, well better than Price's 96. "Such a defeat has several factors, but it indeed feels like I short-changed myself tonight. I can only blame myself for that."
Van Gerwen ended with another quip referring to the behaviour of the Welsh crowd. "If only the Dutch remember this when I play in Rotterdam," he said.
