Van Gerwen convincingly past Dobey with nine-darter and 111 average; Anderson, Clayton, Bunting and Heta also into quarter-finals

Michael van Gerwen has qualified for the quarter-finals of Players Championship 24 at the expense of Chris Dobey. 'Mighty Mike' impressed again with his average.

The 34-year-old from Vlijmen already recorded an average of 112 in his third round and now managed to throw a moyenne of 111 per turn. This enabled him to win 6-3 over Dobey. Van Gerwen also hit a nine darter in the second leg of this match.

Van Gerwen will face Ryan Joyce, who was too strong for Christian Kist, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Dirk van Duijvenbode also did not make it. He lost 6-3 to Daryl Gurney. Gary Anderson, Martin Lukeman, Damon Heta, Jonny Clayton and Stephen Bunting.
