Van Gerwen, De Sousa, Humphries and Cross through opening ties at Players Championship 7

While the field is depleted at Players Championship 7 in Niedernhausen, Michael van Gerwen is one such player who is involved in Germany and has started his campaign with a win.
'Mighty Mike' is second seed today and averaged 98 as he saw off Mario Vandenbogaerde 6-2 who has been mightily impressive at times this year.
While wins have also come for Luke Humphries against Scott Mitchell 6-2, Rob Cross over Berry van Peer and Jose de Sousa defeated Michael Unterbuchner 6-0 who has not appeared until now this year on the ProTour.
There were wins over seeded names for two of the highlights of the ProTour this season as well as Martin Lukeman defeated James Wade 6-3 with a 101 average and Scott Williams came from 4-2 down to see off Dimitri van den Bergh 6-4 who isn't playing tomorrow so goes home with a quick exit.
